 1907- 1987Well known mythologist of the Twentieth Century. A writer, scholar, dedicated editor, teacher, inspiring lecturer, gifted storyteller, and a well reknowned interpreter of myth. Among the many books he wrote, he is by far best known for The Hero with a Thousand Faces, his four-volume The Masks of God, and his magnum opus, Historical Atlas of World Mythology. He believe that the worlds great myths symbolized the human spirit to live joyfully, to be true to ones own self and follow your bliss. No great secret to many that George Lucas was inspired by Campbells book The Power of Myth in creating Star Wars. |
